About Reflexology

Reflexology is a natural, holistic therapy, which is carried out on the feet or hands. Reflexology is used to promote a feeling of well being and is suitable for people of all ages.

Reflexology is based on the idea that the feet are 'mini maps' of the body and that there are points on the feet and hands, which relate to the vital organs, glands or structures of the body. For example, the big toe represents the head and at the base of the big toe is point for the neck.

When the feet are are worked on during a treatment, the body will start to function more efficiently and effectively and the person having the treatment will feel more physically and mentally relaxed.

Who Can Reflexology Help?

About Reflexology - Claire CollinsReflexology is suitable for men and women of all ages and also children and babies. Reflexology is as effective on a young baby as it is on an elderly person; the only difference is the length of the treatment and the pressure used.

I have experience of working with clients with the following medical issues:-

Type 2 diabetes, insomnia or sleeping problems, fertility problems, during pregnancy, menopause, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), stress, anxiety, constipation, IBS and cancer. 

I have also treated clients who are going through a bereavement, feeling the strain of raising a family, needing to get a better work/life balance or who are elderly and wish to stay keep as well as they can. 

Please note that reflexology is also for the fit and healthy!  You don't need to have a health concern to come along for a reflexology treatment.  Reflexology can be used as part of your healthy living regime, alongside; exercise, eating healthily, drinking plenty of water, having a good work/life balance and drinking in moderation.  Reflexology will proactively help maintain your good health, help you relax, and help keep colds or 'bugs' at bay.  Many clients come in once every 4-6 weeks in these situations. 


What Happens During A Treatment?

On a client’s first visit, a detailed consultation is carried out to determine what the client wishes to achieve from the treatment and to obtain relevant information about their medical background, lifestyle and outlook on life.

After the consultation, the reflexology session is carried out with the client lying on a couch; all appointments last for one hour. In subsequent visits, time is taken to find out how things have been for the client and to gather feedback from the previous appointment.
